Psychosocial Support in Criminal Proceedings
Psychosocial support in criminal proceedings is a type of assistance during said proceedings embedded in criminal procedure law with no costs for the persons that require it. It is only meant for victims of serious offences, who act as witnesses in their own criminal proceedings, and is supposed to inform persons on the circumstances of these proceedings as well as the different procedural stages. The aim is to make the criminal proceedings as transparent as possible and reduce stress for the victim.
The person offering psychosocial support is permitted to offer the victim assistance during questioning and be present in the court session of the criminal proceedings.
